I was employed by the Hospital Center of Orange (formerly Orange Memorial Hospital) for almost 28 years before the hospital was purchased by Cathedral  Health Care Systems 1997-1998.  I continued working for the hospital for approximately 2 more years before being forced out.

Since then I have not been able to find another full time position and have been working part time as a school crossing guard.  I have also been raising my nephew, whose parents passed away, on my salary.

I am now approaching 55 years of age and plan to apply for my pension which I was counting on to supplement my income.

Does the loss of PBGC protection means I will lose my pension?  How does the government allow that to happen.  I guess I will have to work until I die to survive.
